Why television dishes are circular in shape?

The television dishes do not have to be exactly circular in its perimeter, but circular is optimal, since it minimizes the amount of material required for the collection and focusing of the microwaves from the satellites. Some are oval-shaped. Theoretically they could be almost any shape, such as hexagonal, or the like, but the surface that exists must have a cross-section parabolic in order to focus essentially in parallel to a microwave to a point where the actual antenna is located some distance in front of the plate.
