Why should you learn to read a play?

Well, no offense, but that is kind of a stupid question. Why should you learn to read a work of theatre? Probably because you have to put in a game. In my school, for the reading of the class, we have to put on plays in front of the rest of the class. And we all need to be able to read the scripts. So, I guess you don't really need to learn how to read a play, if you know how to read. Which, you should because when he wrote in the question, you have to be able to read it. Unless you're blind, of course.
