The democtratic system is based on the separation of powers. The independence of the Judiciary is a pillar of the separation of powers. If there is not judifical independence, the application of justice can be subject to political influences and, in consequence, of the other powers (Legislative and Executive) can act with impunity, irresponsibly and without respect for the law and natural human rights.
