The reason for crushing the ice for snow cones is (C) the increase of the surface helps to dissolve the taste. The amount of flavoring agent absorbed depends on the temperature and the surface area of contact. Because the temperature can not be increased without melting the ice, the ice is crushed. This increases the surface area and more flavoring is dissolved.
