A pharmacist get so much money because they must go to school for 6 years and you mucst be good with math and science in General when people think of pharmacists making a lot of money they are thinking of retail pharmacists who typically make anywhere between $100,000-$130,000 depending on what part of the country you are in and if you are the pharmacist in charge or not. In addition to six years minimum of school, you must also take into account that the retail pharmacy can be a stressfull and not rewarding work. A lot of pharmacists choose to work in hospitals or in the pharmaceutical industry, both of which have a lower starting salary (can be as low as us $70,000), and if you start as a fellow or resident in a hospital or industry, your salary can be as low as $30,000 for the duration of your fellowship or residency.
