Why are state constitutions amended more frequently than the u.s. constitution?

It is much easier to do this, because you only need a regular vote by the people to change and is not as important as the federal constitution. The constitution of the united states, however, is much more difficult to fix because the majority of states have ratified it, and that is extremely complicated.
