Why are some people's long term memory better than short term memories?

\n. \n. \nLong term and short-term memories are stored in different sections of the brain. The damage to one section by trauma or disease does not necessarily affect the other parties.\n. \nthe writer knows of a woman who was operated on for a brain aneurysm some years ago. She now has practically no short-term memory. She can remember things that happened years ago, but five minutes later, she won't remember that talk. However, if you talk about something long enough you are going to get long-term, and she will be able to remember. Needless to say, this is really a debilitating condition.
