A tornado lasts a couple of hours, and it affects people and things in an area of a few hundreds of metres wide and maybe a couple of tens of kilometers long.A hurricane lasts for a week, and can affect the people and things in an area a few hundred kilometers wide and a few thousand miles long.The hurricane is the tortoise to a tornado hare.
