A,D and EPerestroika is the common name of the process of transformation of the socialist system in the USSR in the years 1985-1991. Initially, perestroika and the glasnost (Transparency) and uskorienia (Acceleration), they were the symbol of the new political course of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). It was launched in 1985 by Mikhail Gorbachev after assuming the post of General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee and his adviser Alexander N. Yakovlev. Basic principles of perestroika, Gorbachev described in the book "Reconstruction and the new thinking for our country and for the whole world", published in 1988.Su essence was the modernization of the economy, part of its marketing, the rise of civil liberties and the improvement of the relations with the Western countries.
