The first time is correct (). The colonization of Latin America was conducted by Portugal and Spain, and not Germany. The two countries agreed to divide the continent in a treaty called the Treaty of Tordesillas, in which part of Latin America was Spain and part of Portugal. Both countries led to the genocide of the local indigenous populations, to use the work of the slaves and forced the local populations that survived to adopt the customs and cultures practiced by Portugal and Spain. Including the religious dogmas of Catholicism, through the catechesis of the Indians.
