I think the answer is: Boston settlers attacked the British soldiers, who shot five colonists.The clash was initially caused by the tension between the soliders and the people, because soldiers are sent to force to enforce the rules dictated by the british government.The patriots that exist at that time use this event to won a lot of support from the people for fomenting rebellion against the British authorities.
