The pre-operational stage is characterized by the self-centered thought. This is the second stage and lasts approximately two years of age until the age of seven years. The child is learning to talk, but you still can't think abstractly and use logic. The child in this stage are primarily focused on themselves and have trouble taking the perspective of others. The child assumes that other people see the world the same way they do.
