Which is the current special education law?
I would like to know more about the current special education law in the United States. I really want to know how I can find this law so that I go through it. I am working in the special education sector so I want to understand the law that guides it. I have also heard that the role of education in society is undergoing certain revisions, to align with the UN charter. I wish to know about these changes. Also, tell me please where I can get special education supplies. I require them urgently.

There are two federal laws on special education. The main one is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 1990. It came about as an amendment to the Education of Handicapped Children Act of 1975. There were further amendments to the law in 1997 and 2004, to make it more inclusive for all children with disabilities. The act provides for the following in brief.
The laws on special education generally provide for inclusion and individualized attention for learners with disabilities. They are meant to ensure that these children, like everyone else, should gain the best knowledge that they can to apply in the society. I agree that this is in line with the provisions of section 504 of the rehabilitation act, which tries to ensure that there is no discrimination against people with any form of disability. This includes learners in school. It is also true that the development goals of the United Nations have recognized every individual. Everyone has to make a contribution towards the society. It requires that every individual will be given an opportunity to do it. I think each student must be supported to realize his/ her full potential. Grades are no longer the sole determinants of a person’s academic ability.
