Which conditional has the same truth value as its converse? If a figure is a square, then it has four sides. If an angle has a measure of 80°, then it is acute. If x – 17 = 4, then x = 21. If x = 7, then |x| = 7.

All the statements are true, but if you try to reverse them they will not necessarily be true. We're going to try:Square ⇒ 4 sidesBut if something has 4 sides, this does not mean that it is a square (for example: a rectangle)Angle of 80° ⇒ acute angleBut acute angle is an angle smaller than 90°, not only up to 80° so that the reverse is not true.x – 17 = 4 ⇒ x = 21 or if we reversex = 21 ⇒ x – 17 = 4we see that it is true for any direction.x = 7 ⇒ |x| = 7But |x| = 7 does not mean that x has to be 7, x can also be -7, so that the reverse is not true.ANSWER: x – 17 = 4, then x = 21
