I would say that the disappointment. During this time, many people are faced with the brutal reality of war. It was no longer a thing of glory; soldiers were killed in new, terrible ways. This is also reflected in the poetry and prose written during this period. The improvisation came about as a result of the old ways of thinking that breaks down. The ease and agility result of old traditions to be dissolved. I hope this helps.
