If you want the straight answer, 1997 would be a good year, though 1995 was the true breakthrough of the year. Windows 95 was the first "must-have" product-- before Windows 95, things came out in silence, and little by little their way into everyday life. Windows 95 was launched in a big ceremony with a multi-million dollar advertising campaign, to make sure that everyone knew that. Today it is not uncommon to see such a thing. In addition, Windows 95 was the first computer with a taskbar and an interface similar to that of today, and it was easy to connect to the internet, which was still in its infancy at the time. Do not be confused, however. Shortly after Windows 95 was released, Apple started an advertising campaign which said that a Macintosh computer since 1989 and features of Windows 95. It turns out that Apple was lacking in the advertising department. The same answer can be applied to the World Wide Web. Despite the fact that it was invented in the year 1989, has not become popular until the late 90's, and many of those who bought his first equipment at that time, he was sure, that also to get the internet. The majority of the web sites of the 90's were goofy looking, despite the fact that in 1999 the life was well on her way to as it is today.
