There could be a massive answer to that, as it is affected by many things. Here are a couple of things. People died for the affected families. The buildings were destroyed and the work of thet so it affected the economy. The trust between people became worse. The fears of older people. The reputation of the troubles in Northern Ireland became greatly exaggerated and affected in many ways, like hitting tourism and international investment in the North of Ireland. It also had an impact on the individuals, with people being treated badly and with suspicion when they traveled, simply because they were from Northern Ireland. The society suffered. The political power went to London, so the people had less say in their affairs. The list of effects that could follow.
