The answer is B. During the 1800s, the cotton is the main crop grown in the southern united States in the Black Belt region. This period was also during the height of slavery, where slaves were used for forced labour in the growing and harvesting of crops. Part of the reason why the America of the Civil War was the Southen insistence on maintaining slavery, even when the rest of the united states was recognizing the tragedy of culture on black people.
