In 1879, Connecticut passed a law making it a crime for anyone, even married couples, the use of contraceptive drugs or devices. In Griswold v. Connecticut (1965), the Supreme Court ruled that the state's ban on the use of contraceptives violated the right to privacy in the marriage. Griswold was a landmark decision because the Constitution of the united states in reality, not to mention the right to privacy. The Court found that the right in what he calls the “penumbrasâ€" of many of the constitutional amendments. The Court said that the whole of these amendments protect privacy in the united States of America.
