What study skills can be useful to college students?

I need tips on how to study hard to get good grades because my exams are three months away. Lately, my study skills have become terrible because I have little or no time to read my books. I think getting a study helper could be useful to me right now. Do you have any ideas on study habits for college students that you think would be useful to me? Please help me, I really need good grades.

When building your study skill, you would need to keep practicing until you are better at it. You do not need to force yourself to learn some tips, with time, you will get better at it. Study habit for college students to perform better differs depending on the subject. My tips are general and can be used to study any course.

  • Do not cram. You may be scared because your exams are coming soon and you feel you don’t have enough time to read all courses in such a short time. Then, you decide to cram, which is the worst option to take if you are learning how to study harder. On the day of your examination, you may lose up to 80% of the information that you have crammed.
  • Learn to organize yourself better. Use a calendar to mark your school schedule for the semester, social life, rest time, etc. This will help you understand what you have during your semester. Make a realistic daily or weekly to-do list, keeping in mind that you need to study at a certain hour of every day. To motivate yourself, you can set up a reward system for every task that you complete in a week.
  • Do not forget to take time out to rest because a well-rested brain works better than a tired one. Do not spend long hours reading at night when you should be resting.

These are a few tools that you can use to stay organized in school.

Evernote: This app is the best tool for you if you need to stay organized in school. This is because instead of carrying different notes for different classes, on your mobile device, you can integrate all your course notes, audio recordings, assignments, checklists, links, etc. in one place and it is accessible at any time. This app will be very helpful to you.

Todoist: This app will help you organize your school work, social activities, and every other thing that you need to do using its to-do list platform. Using this app, you will not miss out on the things that you need to do, as long as it has been typed into the app. This is a free app but the premium version costs $28.99 for a year. It is absolutely worth the cost.
Good luck.

Thanks for sharing this information. In addition to what you have said, the following can help college students enhance their study skills.

Students should avoid missing classes. Yes, I know that unavoidable situations can come up but besides that, avoid procrastination and attend classes daily. This is because there are experiences or things that could be shared by a classmate or a teacher that may not be in the textbook, which you may miss out on if you are absent in class.

Another way to improve studying is to test your limits. After reading a subject, set tests for yourself in order to grade your retention ability. This is a self-check technique that can help you determine how often you need to study in order to retain what you have read. Also, make use of online materials and the library when you need more information on a topic.
