You'll need a solid training in the sciences: you will be studying for a medical degree, and courses include anatomy, physiology, psychology, and specific courses of about the internal workings of the human body. You will need to learn the techniques for the diagnosis of various diseases, and what certain symptoms mean. You need to know how to do medical research, so that you can stay up-to-date with new findings that may be useful to your area of specialization. You will need to project confidence, but a calm, so that you can put a patient at ease (many patients are scared when they see a doctor). You will need to listen carefully to the patient, so that you can understand your symptoms: this is going to be needed to diagnose or identify the possible reasons why the patient does not feel well. Sometimes, a good doctor is like a detective-- the collection of information, to know what tests to order, doing the research, and figure out the problem. You will also need to possess manual dexterity, as they can perform a surgery or manipulation of medical equipment or doing a physical exam. Some doctors are specialists, and they must acquire a thorough knowledge of the specific area in which they want to practice: gynecology, oncology, internal medicine, surgery, etc above all, a doctor must have a love for the field of medicine and dedication to helping patients.
