When we eat carbohydrates, our body metabolizes it into glucose, the simplest form of the nutrients. The glucose, or sugar in the blood, the powers of every cell in your body and it feeds our brain.-According to the Department of Health and Human Services, Between 45 and 65 percent of total calories should come from carbohydrates.-Carbohydrates contain 4 calories per gram. If one of them typically consume around 2,000 calories per day, 45 to 65 percent of their calories is equivalent to 225 to 325 grams of carbohydrates.
