The link between the 2 atoms of Cl in Cl₂ molecule is a covalent bond. to break this covalent bond, energy is required. when the new bonds form, energy is released as the formation of bonds which makes the molecule stable. the molecules with low energy levels are generally stable. To break the covalent bond, energy is needed in other words, the energy is absorbed. therefore, in order to break the covalent bond in Cl₂ molecule-1)the energy is absorbed
