Let's write the function of-8x^2 - 64x in the form of(x – h)^2 + k. g(x) = 8x^2 - 64x. g(x) = 8 * x^2 - 8 * 8x. g(x) = 8(x^2 - 8x). g(x) = 8(x^2 - 8x + 16 - 16). g(x) = 8((x^2 - 8x + 16) - 16). g(x) = 8 (x - 4)^2 - 16). g(x) = 8(x - 4)^2 - 8 * 16. g(x) = 8(x - 4)^2 - 128. The function is now in the form a(x – h)^2 + k, where a = 8, h = 4 and k = -128. Therefore, the vertex is (4, -128).
