There are many different ways that you can lucid dream. If you are a beginner I suggest the Wake Back To Bed Method. With this method the alarm is activated for about 5 hours before usual (This is when you go through the REM cycle is where dreaming occurs) to Go to bed as usual and when the alrarm is going to get OUT OF BED and get your brain active again. (to read a book about lucid dreaming, let the dog) Do this for about an hour, and then go back to bed, this should make you have a lucid dream, because you've interrupted you REM sleep and, when you go to sleep should be easier for you to realize that you are dreaming. good luck, and that practice makes the master. note: If this does not work for you, try researching on the internet, everyone learns in a different way.
