"ISO", from the Greek word "isos" (equal), is the short name for the International Organization for Standardization. ISO is an international standardization organization composed of representatives from various national standards organizations. Many global standards published by the ISO has a name that begins with "ISO" followed by a number. The national standards of the organisation for the United Kingdom, the BSI Group, which publishes rules known as the "British Standards".
