Keep in mind that the weight actually refers to the force that is exerted due to the acceleration of gravity and the mass of an object. It is common to see the terms weight and mass used interchangeably, though. The si base unit for mass is the kilogram. The original metric system specifies the gram as the base unit of mass. The si base unit of force, which technically would be the correct unit of weight is the Newton (kg*m/s 2 ). Dina is another of the 'metric' unit of force (g*cm/s 2 ). (MORE)
