It is a land of great contrasts, where you can find cities and regions with quality of life comparable to that of Western Europe, while, at the same time, you can find rural communities with the health, education, and income equivalent to that of sub-Saharan Africa, without exploiting the African countries. An instance of "high development" is Mexico City, with an income per capita of US$46,440, on par to Switzerland (US$46,200) or Canada (US$43,400). On the other hand we have Cochoapa el Grande, in the southern state of Guerrero, with a per capita income of only US$1,021, equivalent to that of Madagascar (US$1,000) or Afghanistan (US$1,100).
