Seditious speech of the objectives of overthrowing the government of the day. This form of expression directly attacks the leaders of the government and the institutions of government. Encouraged insurrection or rebellion against the government. It is a criminal offence to practice seditious speech. Seditious speech can be both written and oral. The Sedition Act of 1798 was enacted to avoid the newspapers of the day openly criticizing the government or its actions. It is interesting to note that the Sedition act is very similar to the law of prevention of espionage.
