The Coastal plain is different from an interior plain because a coastal plain lies along the sea coast. The coastal plains also have low relief. The interior of the plain is located far from the coast and elevation may vary. The coastal plains are normally gate of the interior of the plains. Interior plains have more opportunities for drought conditions as well. One of the results of the differences is the population. What is more likely is that the coastal plains are the centers of population.
