What did the previous government do with regard to education reform in America, what are the present possible education reform areas by congress and reform movements?

I wish to understand what efforts Obama’s government directed to education reform in America.  What education reform efforts can be cited during his term as president? Also it would be great to get some info on today’s education reform news and the education areas that the congress can use to improve the education system. With Trump as the president, where does that leave Obama’s reform for higher education? Also explain what the public school reform movement is doing to improve the education system.

I don’t know about movements for public school reform but I do know that Obama initially worked to increase financial aid for students so as to make college education affordable. His effort in investing more resources into financial aid was more than any previous American presidents. The Obama government came to closely doubling the annual Pell Grant funding for low income students and families of the working class; it raised the maximum grant award by twenty five percent. His government is also associated with the American Opportunity Tax credit, extension of the tuition related tax relief for families belonging to the middle class and signing legislations aimed at capping loan payment by students at percent of yearly, income and forgiving loans after twenty years. These education reform strategies positively impacted access and affordability of colleges. Alone, the raised fiscal investments in education financial aid saw the Pell Grant extend by an additional three million students annually. Additionally, the options for generous student loan repayment increased by six million more students while the American opportunity tax credit covered four million more families of the low-income earners category.  with the increased affordability for college education, more than seven hundred thousand more students attended college right after completing high school under the watch of the president. Additionally, the president called for more accountability and high quality. His administration expanded the federal role in education and ceased taking degree quality and completion for granted.

According to news about education reform, though Obama’s administration made changes to the provision and collection of loans, expanding the plans for repayment and removing banks from the process of lending, the win of Tramp has left reforms by Obama in doubt. Most of Obama’s moves irritated republicans and now the advocates are afraid that there is nothing keeping the GOP from dismantling such regulations. According to analysts, the presidency of Donald Trump may open doors for conservatives to weaken of dismantle any America’s education reforms that are associated with the previous regime. From a consumer protection view, the future of higher education policy’s is not bright. Even during campaign time, trump would ignore higher education and this could explain any future position by the republicans to limit the role of the government in higher education. According to inside higher education, Tramp is expected to get student lending from the hands of the government and back to the banks. It is however, unclear if that would imply going back to the days of subsidizing bank loans awarded to students or ceding more of the loans market to private providers.

The 115th congress members took their seats in January this year with a republican government that is unified - the first time in around ten years. There are several areas that the congress could start to reform the American education. They could start by capping the many types of student loans that are offered by the federal government. Moreover, they could act on excessive subsidy reliance by institutions. Presently, eighty-eight percent of for-profit institutions get more than fifty percent of their revenue coming from the federal authority. In spite of being for-profit, such high welfare for corporates is inconsistent with the requirements of a free market. The congress can also reform the accreditation agencies. Though tricky, reforming accreditors can ensure that taxpayers’ money is only invested in colleges that are promising. Present Acts on loan repayment that is driven by income. The statutes also give discretion to the department of education. Congress should table this problem and consider the amount paid back to vary with the principal amount.
