Hamilton's vision for america was that of a strong, united nation. He believed that in order to achieve this, a strong central government was necessary, compared to the strong state governments that the Anti-Federalists were looking for. His main fear with regard to the ratification was that, if the constitution was not approved, the country fragmented, and the states would be too independent.
