To be a cardiac surgeon, a medical degree from a accreditedmedical of the school as a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine (D. O.)degree of Doctor of Medicine (M. D.) degree, or if you earned outside of the united States, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS/MBChB) degree is required. After winning one of these medicaldegrees, a surgery residency, followed by specialized training incardiothoracic surgery must be completed and the board of certificationexaminations must be successfully passed to be a board-certifiedcardiothoracic surgeon.
