The collapse of Communism has brought a number of benefits to the citizens of the countries of Eastern europe. Individual liberties were under the guardianship of the state. After the fall, the citizens have more freedom of movement, of expression and of religion. Contact with other regions, such as Western Europe, has been restored. Communism is based on the power of the state that is not transparent. In this way, the power was in the hands of the bureaucrats, often corrupt. That is to say, the end of communism brought more transparency and monitoring, the promotion of greater integrity and honesty.
