I can suggest the following strategies:
1. Find things you enjoy reading, and continue reading. Reading improves with practice. The more you read, the easier it becomes.
2. Have a dictionary (or use the online dictionary if you prefer) and if you run into words whose meanings you do not know, look them up.
3. Think about what they are reading. It is more useful to understand what is read, what it is to run through large amounts of material without fully understanding it.
