The four basic forms of perception of the characteristics of sound are pitch, intensity, quality, and fidelity. The pitch is the perception of a high or low level of noise, the volume is the intensity of a sound, the phase is the increase and decrease of pressure in the cycle of a single vibration, the volume is a quality defined as the intensity of the sound energy as it comes into contact with the eardrum or other surface.
