What are the best universities in Canada?

I ask about universities in Canada because I want to study abroad and for a first experience I’m thinking about going to canada. Maybe later I can visit countries that are further or that have a different culture from western countries. This first trip I’m planning is just to get an idea of what is study abroad. I’m already in college and I’ve never been abroad. I want to learn a foreign language too because knowing languages can always be useful. I want to see how everything goes if I study in Canada.

There is a large number of Canadian universities to choose from to experience your first study abroad trip. Besides regular courses, they also propose short courses that you could take if you are planning a summer trip.

In those universities, you will find a variety of courses of foreign languages and culture and other international students that can help you understand what studying abroad implies. Canada is a country with a long tradition of multiculturalism, as it welcomes many international students each year. Your choice of university will depend on the specific areas of study that you search for and the career you pursue. In universities there you can find subjects related to psychology, physical sciences, arts and humanities, engineering technology, social sciences, life sciences, business and economics, clinical, pre-clinical and health, computer science.

A good option for you could be to continue your studies in Canada at the University of Toronto ( https://www.utoronto.ca/ ). The teaching strength of this university lies in areas such as medicine, business, engineering, humanities and education. It is known worldwide as an educational institution that generates leaders, since it has five Canadian prime ministers among its former students and associations with ten Nobel prize winners. As you may have guessed, the University of Toronto is at the top of the rankings in Canada. And because of its programs for foreign students, it is also among the best universities in Canada for international students.

The universities that complete the top five of the best Canadian universities rankings (https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/2018/world-ranking#!/page/0/length/25/locations/CA/sort_by/rank/sort_order/asc/cols/stats and https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/mba-rankings/canada/2018) are the University of British Columbia, McGill University, McMaster University and the University of Montreal.

Canadian universities are receptive to international perspectives and promote cultural diversity among their students. At McMaster, for example, you can find students from over 90 countries and it has 70 international exchange agreements in place. Moreover, it is the only Canadian host site of a United Nations University (The Institute for Water, Environment and Health UNU-INWEH).

Among the best universities in Canada, there are public universities such as the University of Alberta and the Western University. The University of Alberta (https://www.ualberta.ca/international-student-services) is one of the top 100 in the world. Its International Student Services can help you with applying for visas or study permits. While the University of Western Ontario, commonly shortened to Western (http://grad.uwo.ca/prospective_students/international/index.html) is committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive services to all students and embrace multiculturalism.
