What are some of the best personal development books for women?

I am looking for information on the best personal development books written to suit women. I read a lot of articles online on various personal development topics. I have had a long career spanning over a decade and a relatively normal personal life. However, I feel that I have not engaged in personality development activities as much as I would have liked to. I would also like to know some practical personal development goals examples that will help me set my own goals.

I commend you for seeing the need to self-develop. This is something that one should do throughout their life. And when you start, don’t stop. The best way to start on this journey is to read. Many like myself started development journey by reading 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven R. Covey. This is a very inspiring and motivating read. However, this is generally for anyone who wants to self-develop. Here are some of the best books on personal development specifically tailored for women:

  1. The Jetstream of Success by Julian Pencilliah.
  2. The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman.
  3. Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg.
  4. Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown.
  5. Choosing ME Before WE by Christine Arylo.
  6. You Are A Badass by Jen Cincero.
  7. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert.

Before you embark on anything you need to set goals. Goals ensure you stay
committed to a plan and do not stray from the set path. Here are some examples of personal development goals that may help you make a good plan:

  1. Create a regular reading culture: by reading you will be widening your knowledge capacity. Read something every day to learn new things. Once in a while you can read on a topic related to personal development.
  2. Learn to relate with others: strive to get along with the people around you. This could be people at work, home or social networks.
  3. Surpass your limitations: acknowledge your limitations and then work on them. This will help you achieve your full and undiscovered potential.
  4. Become a better decision maker: assess the decisions you make and ensure that the solutions you come up with are best suited for the situation.
  5. Face and tackle the past: the past hinders growth potential. Live in the present time. Let go of any past issues, relationships and regrets that may be pulling you down.
  6. Eliminate procrastination: the best way to not procrastinate is to do a personality development activity in short time spans. If this is not possible, create a daily to-do list and check off each activity you perform. Reward yourself for each complete task.
  7. Improve your overall quality of life: this includes eating healthy, exercising, going for regular check-ups. Health also includes taking care of yourself emotionally, spiritually and mentally.

This is so informative. Some of the books listed here are the best I have come across. I want to add more personal development goals examples to help you in both your career and personal life:

  • Start waking up early. Wake up early and plan your day ahead. This is a good habit that will ensure you become healthier and more productive.
  • Learn to stress management techniques. Stress can be limiting and unhealthy. Find strategies that help you manage stressful situations at work or home.
  • Enhance work performance. Identify what you need to improve performance in your profession. You can further your education by taking up a course or participate in more work projects.
  • Manage your time. Create a culture of effective time utilization. Set aside time for personal growth each day.
  • Be proactive. This means being an initiator of change. Be the one to look for solutions to problems.

Best personal development books come in handy mostly after a period of some kind of sorrow because that’s when most people reflect on their personality, thinking that maybe it had something to do with the sadness.

Some of the books explain some of the basic personality development activities that one can engage in so as to achieve personal growth. Yoga is one of the most preferred activity. Others include learning to play an instrument; a guitar for instance. Paddleboarding is another activity that can help in developing yourself. The growth happens slowly, and small changes become noticeable in time.
