What are some of the best online design schools I can find?

I am looking for a virtual school that offers a variety of online architecture courses for anyone who does not wish to attend in-person classes in a traditional college. I have taken long to decide where my true passion lies and in these years I have gathered experience by working in various job positions.
I cannot quit the job I am doing now and hence my interest in top online courses in design and architecture. What are some of the best online design schools that I should check out?

Well, there are lots of institutions that offer free and paid architecture courses online. I will start with one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Through the graduate school department of design, Harvard now offers a web-based learning course on architecture. The course which is known as Architectural imagination is offered through EdX. EdX was created by MIT and Harvard for MOOCs.

This course is fairly new and free. It is more or less an introductory course that will help you understand what architecture is all about in a technical perspective. Based on the high education standards demanded by Harvard, this course has a live tutor, ample study material, and tests. You will, however, have to part with $99 if you want to receive a verified certificate at the end of the course.

Let us talk about EdX some more as it does not only offer courses by Harvard. From the time of its inception in 2012, this platform has grown to form partnerships with many recognized universities. On its introduction, it had top courses online from Harvard and MIT. Now, you will find courses offered by Tokyo Institute of Technology, Trinity College, University of Hong Kong, ETH Zurich, Delft University of Technology and many more. Therefore, instead of searching for courses and different design schools online, you can explore EdX which offers all these in one place. Here are some architectural related courses I would recommend:

Based on the 4/5 review by learners who have experienced it, this course is definitely worth your time. The objective of the course to help you understand how you can interpret information and data you receive from people to predict the sustainability of cities in the future. You can pay $50 to receive a verified certificate signed by the course instructor and with the logo of the institution. This course is self-paced.

Sustainability in Architecture
This course is a product of the Technical University of Valencia and offers the knowledge on how sustainability in Architecture can be achieved. It is a free course with $50 payment for to get a verified certificate. Running for four weeks, you will need to put in about four hours each week.

Eco-design for Suburbs and Cities
Learn about urban design and how understanding ecology can help in preventing environmental calamities. Plus, you will get $99 certificate from the University of British Columbia.

I think Udemy is also a great platform for online architecture courses. Though not free like the courses on EdX, I believe Udemy has a wider variety of courses in the field of design and architecture. Moreover, Udemy is quite affordable with some courses going for as low as $10.99.

Before you pick a course here, you can vet it by going through the instructor profile and the reviews by past users. Once you have settled on a field you want to study which in this case is architecture; you need to search it on Udemy to get a list of all courses available.

The list starts with the most highly rated courses and as you do down the list the rating decreases. This approach works well as you can view best-selling courses and will give you the best value for your money. Most of the courses here are short.
