The correct answer is C - profile.A soil profile is the vertical section of the soil from the surface of the earth down, where the soil meets the underlying bedrock. The soil profile can be as little as 10 cm thick in immature soils and a depth of several meters in the tropical zones, where the climate is conducive to the rapid alteration of the underlying bedrock to form soil. In the temperate zones, the soil profile is often found to a depth of one meter and in arid areas is generally less than this.
