In this case, PEMDA clearly dictates us how to approach simplification. It has a certain order that will help us pick it all apart. PEMDAS order of evaluation: parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction
–2(p + 4)2 – 3 + 5p=p-19
At first, multiply 2*2=4
–4(p + 4) – 3 + 5p
Than, expand –4(p + 4) to –4p –16
–4p –16 – 3 + 5p
Than simplify and get p-19

The simplification of an expression it is important to follow PEMDAS. We have to evaluate first those between parentheses, then exponents, multiplication, division, addition and lastly, subtraction. -2(p + 4)^2 – 3 + 5p-2(p^2 + 8p + 16) - 3 + 5p-2p^2 -16p - 32 -3 +5p-2p^2 -11p -35
