Scientists can determine if oxygen existed in Earth's Archean atmosphere by looking for oxidized iron in the rock. In the beginning, there was only a little to the absence of oxygen in the atmosphere. The oxygen produced by cyanobacteria is only enough for the aging process. Not only the sufficient amount of oxygen that remain in the atmosphere when the rocks on the surface are properly oxidized. However, as time passes, the evidence said that the amount of oxygen in the Archean atmosphere is increasing at a slow steady pace.
