A collision occurs when the distance between the two ships decreases, and the bearings are not changing. To avoid collisions, the operators must master the Rules of the Road. Operators should be able to determine if your boat is a Stand-On Vessel (keeping course and speed) or the give-way vessel (the "burdened" vessel that gives form to the base-in vessels),and maneuver accordingly.
