The correct answer is d. oceanic and continental plates converge. The greater part of the volcanic activity appears in places where a continental tectonic plate collides with a tectonic plate oceanic. When these two types of plates collide, a subduction zone is formed. That means that the heavier and denser oceanic plate subducts (goes under) the continental plate, and in the crack between them pressure, high temperature, and the magma from the mantle manage to push upwards towards the surface, therefore, the creation of the volcanoes.
