The independence of mexico as a result of the conflicts between Mexicans and spaniards. A catholic priest by the name of Miguel Hidalgo y Castilla led the Mexicans in a war with the spaniards, and he chose a perfect time for this, when Napoleon was at war with Spain, so the Spanish troops were much weaker, and the Mexican managed to win and gain their independence. After independence, the land owned by the large Spanish owners of the land was redistributed among the people, and also racial iquality took place in the Mexican society.
