The correct balanced chemical equation which is produced by burning the methane in oxygen gas isCH4 + 2O2 --> 2H2O +CO2 (answer D)when methane burns in presence of oxygen gas produces carbon(IV) oxide and water and the energy, that is 1 mole of CH4 reacts with 2 mol O2 to form 2 mol water and 1 mol of CO2 and energy. This energy cause the methane to be used as fuel.
