You can use the factors to solve. Determine all the pairs of factors of 24 find the two that are two numbers apart.1, 24 X2, 12 X3, 8 X4, 6 YES!Algebraic way to solve using Quadratic:l = 2 + wA = lwA = (2 + w)w Substitute (2 + w) l24 = (2 + w)w Substitute 24 in the area24 = 2w + w^2 Distributew^2 + 2w - 24 = 0 is equal to 0 (standard form)(w + 6) (w - 4) = 0 Factorw + 6 = 0 and w - 4 = 0 each factor equal to 0.De so that w= -6 or w = 4 ... -6 makes no sense for a length! So the width should be 4 and the duration will be 4 + 2, which is 6.
