sink back on EarthWhen the temperature differences that exist, hot liquids, place and cold fluids sink. This creates convection currents. Convection currents transfer heat through the fluidity of water, the air, or even hot magma. Convection currents develop when heated, liquids expand. These fluids become less dense. The decrease in density causes the fluid to a place far away from the original heat source. As the fluid rises, cooler fluid is drawn towards the heat source and replaces the warm fluid. This liquid is heated. Rises, and the process begins again. The convection currents set up a circular flow that only ceases once the heat is transferred uniformly throughout the liquid.
