Parents are the usual and appropriate surrogate decision maker for a newborn. The child was a product of his love for what must be the one who decides for the child. It could be argued that it would be to decide for the betterment of the child, because it is assumed that the parents love the children. Therefore, the parents are the appropriate surrogate decision maker for a newborn baby, except if proof to the contrary.
