Speed is a scalar quantity given by the rate of change in the distance. Therefore, it is given by the distance traveled divided by the time taken to cover the distance. Speed= distance/timetherefore, the speed is directly proportional to the distance traveled, if the time taken remains constant, in such a way that an increase in the distance causes a corresponding increase in the speed and vice versa, therefore, if the speed is tripled, then, will have three times the distance to stop.
